Thanks for your comment Tim! I appreciate your prospective.
It’s true, sex does really sell, but do we want it to? One of the most important rules in emotional targeting is understanding what you your customers should feel from your product. Yes sex may sell but is it what I want my users to feel? or more importantly, what type of customers will this bring me? If I use a different trigger, for example a successful man I may attract more wealthy customers or potentially more long-lasting customers than using a sex symbol.
So in general, I think the “sex sells” is very good but not for all and not all the time

I’m not sure, I guess most people would see the women but… maybe the guy symbolizes being young and free?

I would also go with the woman.
A year ago I was doing quite a bit of testing in a life insurance PPC campaign and the women always out perform the men. so yes, sometimes a cliche becomes a cliche because it’s true – sex sells!
